Today we learned about a redd. A redd is a nest made by a steelhead trout or samlon. We now have to get our tank ready to put steelhead eggs in, however, because of the drought we are going to have to get rainbow trout eggs instead. The rainbow trout are the same as steelhead except we can't let them go in the Mark West Creek. Also, with the new timing they might hatch over spring break. The tank temputure the steelhead and the rainbow trout like is 50 degrees, so when I had to make the redd out of rocks from the Mark West Creek in our tank, it was freezing cold like ice. When I was building the redd (nest) I had to make a little cave for the eggs so they wouldn't blow away by the filter, but I still had to make it a little lose so oxygen could get though.
